Maria Marinch has more than 23 years of combined experience in education, community outreach, public relations, marketing, multiculturalism and languages. Before her current role as the Executive Director of Community Relations, Diversity and Multicultural Affairs at the College of Southern Nevada, Marinch was a professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, teaching Spanish and communication courses.

Marinch is responsible for working with the college to create a community that embraces diversity and its power to positively transform and expand opportunities for all. Reporting directly to CSN’s president and a member of his executive team, she oversees the creation and implementation of the institution’s diversity action plan, leads community mapping and engagement efforts, supports multicultural affairs and CSN’s emerging alumni network.

Marinch is also a successful entrepreneur who has designed and implemented award-winning campaigns for her clients and is considered an expert on multicultural communication. Her latest enterprise, Vitral, offers inclusive services in multicultural marketing planning, adaptation and assessment; Hispanic media outreach; community mapping and outreach; targeted qualitative research; diversity strategic planning and training; Spanish copywriting; and translation and interpretation.

Marinch was named one of the top “40 Under 40” and a “Woman to Watch in 2008” by In Business Las Vegas, has been profiled twice by El Mundo newspaper as an outstanding Hispanic, has been featured by El Tiempo newspaper and is frequently quoted by media on Hispanic issues. Marinch was awarded the “Professional Service Award” by the Latin Chamber of Commerce and has been featured in several publications as a multicultural expert. She is a current board member of the Latin Chamber of Commerce and the Asian Development Community Council (ACDC) and serves in a variety of community advisory committees. Her non-profit work was recognized by KLAS, Channel 8, with a “Community Service Award.”

Marinch worked as an executive for Brown & Partners, Advertising and Public Relations, as a public information officer, and Ward 5 liaison for the city of Las Vegas. She was also a member of the purchasing and marketing teams for consumer product giant Procter & Gamble.

Marinch holds a Master of Arts in Foreign Languages and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Marketing degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She has received extensive language and cultural training, including a two-year certification for translation and interpretation from the Berlitz Institute in Mexico.
