We are very blessed to five amazing interns working with us at Project 150 from the UNLV Engelstad Scholarship Program. The scholarship recognizes undergraduates at UNLV that are academically successful and demonstrate a commitment to give back to their community.
UNLV Sophomore Robert Vargas is joining Project 150 for his second year. Robert is just as excited as we are to start the 2015 year. Robert’s first day was Friday, January 23, 2015 & will continue to volunteer for Project 150 on Fridays from 9am-1pm. Roberts Major is Biology and wants to become a Family Doctor.
Robert is looking forward to learning new changes at Project 150 and will adjust just fine. In the past Robert has shown great leadership in Free Teen Shopping Days and is very familiar with the day to day functions at the Volunteer Center. He is excited to work with our new Engelstad Interns and will set a good example of the Project 150’s expectations for Engelstad Scholars.
UNLV Sophomore Jessica Gatti will not be joining Project 150 this semester. Jessica was invited to take part in an Internship at Disney in Orlando, Florida. Jessica will contact Project 150 when she will be returning to school and available for next semester.
UNLV Freshmen Joie Catibog is a new Engelstad Scholar Intern, who has already started her first day on Friday, January 23, 2015. Joie’s availability is Fridays from 9am to 1pm until she finds employment. She will notify Project 150 of new availability as needed.
Joie graduated from Spring Valley High School in 2014. Her major is Kinesiology and has great interest in the study of the human body. Joie is very friendly, but quiet. I know she will be a great addition to our already awesome Engelstad team. She seems very eager to learn and her expectations of her experience as an intern is to learn the everyday functions of a nonprofit organization.
UNLV Freshmen Alayna Swena is a new Engelstad Scholar Intern, she will start her first day on Thursday, January 29 from 9-1pm. Her availability is Thursdays & Fridays from 9am to 1pm.
Alayna graduated from West Tech high school and now majors in Bio-Technology at UNLV. She works at subway part time and loves to plays rugby. She is currently trying to start an intermural Rugby team at UNLV. Her expectations of her experience at Project 150 is to learn the importance of all aspects of nonprofit agencies and helping the community.
UNLV Freshmen Abdullah Yusufzai is our new Engelstad Scholar Intern starting next week. Abdullah will work Wednesdays 9-11am and 3-5pm subject to change with class schedule.
Abdullah’s major is graduate of West Career & Technical Academy majoring in Civil Engineering. Works at Rocco’s Pizza on the weekends. He has applied for an out of country summer internship in Turkey or Thailand
In high school he was involved in Cross Country and soccer. He has volunteered for the Youth Soccer Association.
